Good morning everyone. When the Spurs game went to the final minute last night, I realized that I would probably be seeing you today. It had slipped my mind that a Spurs victory last night would likely mean a Sunday start to the Western Conference Finals. When Miami's opponent for the Eastern Conference Finals is determined, I will predict the winner of their upcoming series and retype this prediction that I'm about to share with you. As it stands, I was correct that the Spurs would eliminate the Warriors, and wrong about the Thunder knocking off the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies/Thunder series is a good example of why I don't like long-term proposition bets. I went on record here before the season began that I believed the Heat would defeat the Thunder in the NBA Finals. Now if someone was to put money on that, they would have to weather possible injuries (among other things). The Spurs should benefit from the elimination of the Thunder, and I didn't bet any money on my prediction, so it's not like I'm sad, but Oklahoma City was obviously a different team having to play without Westbrook. Here is my prediction for the Western Conference Finals:
Spurs over the Grizzlies in 7 games
Since I did work last night and we're all here right now, I might as well share a few stories with you... In a casual conversation revolving around the recent graduation ceremonies, etc..., my friend and coworker John brought up the fact that someone was a 'Chi-O' - now John pronounced the (chuh) in "Chi" as you would in words like cheerleader, chirp, and chump. The (kuh) is supposed to be pronounced as it would be in words like charisma, chord, and the wonderful name Chris... I only tagged more than a half-dozen Chi-O's to this entry, so they will probably be MORE THAN HAPPY to set John straight... :) In the vein of "you're not the only one," when I moved down to San Antonio after high school, for a while I was pronouncing the name of the restaurant 'Fajitas and Margaritas' as (fuh GEE tuhs) and Margaritas... :O
Speaking of Chi-O's, it's been SO LONG since my friend Alyssa has made the blog... She was out celebrating her dreaded graduation on Saturday night, and when it came time to go home, Alyssa and her sister approached me. Alyssa walked by me, and as I hugged her sister, I asked my friend the question, "no hug?" Alyssa stopped walking, turned her head, looked at me pensively, and replied..., "I'll be back tomorrow..." Then she walked away... That was the hardest that I laughed on Saturday night... :)
For your information (and this is referencing the Libra quote at the top of the page), I think that Twitter has the most accurate horoscopes ever... :)
Thanks again for stopping by, and more specifically for reading the blog entry that sent my total views past the 35,000 mark (look at the counter in the upper righthand corner of this page - you MAY BE the 35,000th viewer)... :) I said this yesterday and I'll say it again now - have an outstanding weekend and I'll see you again on Monday!
I wouldn't be surprised if the Grizz won but I'm not prrjudiced or anything.
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be the most shocking thing ever - it's happened before Mojo (in case you didn't know)... ;)
DeleteThe series could go either way, but if I absolutely had to bet, I'd go with Memphis. Very tough inside, great defense, and seem to be on a roll.
ReplyDeleteIndiana might be able to make it interesting but I don't see them actually beating the Heat.
